HEALTH CARE ASSISTANT

 

32 HOURS PER WEEK.

 

 

 

We are looking for a Health Care Assistant to work at Fenland Group Practice.

This would involve being able to work at all sites should the Rota require.

 

The post is offered for 32 hours per week

The post offers the opportunity to become involved in a forward thinking GP Practice which places quality of patient care high on its agenda.

 

You must be a qualified HCA who can deal with the day-to-day activities including experience in Phlebotomy, Health Checks, BP/Weight monitoring, long term condition monitoring ECGs etc.

Be familiar with SystmOne Clinical computer system, however training can be given on this system if required.

You will be an integral member of the practice team, and should display excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills. You should have the ability to work methodically to a high standard

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

JOB TITLE:                               HEALTHCARE ASSISTANT

 

SALARY:                                  ACCORDING TO EXPERIENCE

 

REPORTS TO:                          GP (Clinically) – Dr S. Hambling

                                              

                                               Practice Manager – Elizabeth Welcher

 

HOURS:                                     32 hours

 

Job Summary:

Working under the direct supervision of the GP Partners and strictly in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Height, Weight, checks
  • B/P checks
  • Smoking status
  • Urine requests
  • New patient health checks
  • ECG recording
  • Phlebotomy – Electronic request forms.
  • Chaperoning duties (Protocol)
  • Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
  • Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment – Forms/Box
  • Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording, daily
  • Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
  • Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
  • Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients’ health and well-being
  • Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
  • Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
  • Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being.
  • Follow Infection Control Protocol
  • Administrative tasks within the Nursing Team
  •
